Why are you going to Ceylon ?

247

I obtained a ticket from Thos. Cook & Co. Yokohama

per S. S. CORDILLERE for Colombo as there was no direct boat for Bombay, except P. & 0. Steamers and Thos. Cook & Co. informed me

that the P. & 0. would not give me a whole cabin mless I paid

for all the berths. I could not afford this. The French mail was

cheaper and I was to go to Thos. Cook at Colombo to obtain another steamer for Bombay. I tried to get a 2nd. class cabin on an

N.Y.K. boat for Calcutta but the ships were full up.
